Golden Retriever Training Made Easy

Tags: , , ,

2008-11-19Training is very important for dogs so they would become obedient to their owners or masters. Different dogs have different trainings due to their various breeds and personalities although the basic dog training is basically the same. It would be best if the training starts when they are still puppies.

For the golden retriever, you have to remember that its cute and sweet face together with its cuddly body is very appealing to those dog lovers who would want to adopt it. Just remember that they don’t stay like that forever. They grow into a large dog so be sure that you would be able to accommodate for that matter.

For your dog’s training, take note of the following suggestions. It should include something for its behavior, leash, teeth and its other activities. The first one is about its behavior. You can call it your very own obedience training. Your pet should be trained to obey your commands, how to interact with your other pets and other animals, and how not to bark all the time especially if it is just nothing to bother at.

This breed of dog is considered very intelligent so training it is not that difficult. However it is very important that you understand your dog well regarding its nature and individual traits. Some dogs have their own particular behavior that’s different from those of its same kind. The second one is for its leash.

Observe first if your golden retriever is ready for it. Some puppies love to have lots of freedom to move around because they want to explore. On the other hand the adult ones would most likely to accept the leash right away because they don’t tend move around too much.

They love to settle in their very own or favorite area. If your puppy tries to take its leash away, just remove it for awhile or loosen it a bit. Make sure that the leash is comfortable for your pet and not tied too tight or too loose. The third one is about its teeth.

You can choose different kinds of chew toy for your golden retriever. Puppies love to chew or bite when they are teething. Take note of the size of the chew toy. Make sure that your pet would not be able to swallow it. It would also help if you keep more than one chew toy because when your pet begins to get bored with the first one you have a second one handy.

Just remember to be careful when you pick up its chew toys. Keep it clean and dry otherwise your pet can get diseases from it. The last one is about its other activities such as digging around, teaching it to hunt, search and rescue, and other dog activities. Digging is natural to them so allot some space in your yard.

Teach it to dig only in one area by reprimanding it when it starts to dig at the other side of your lawn. As for hunting and search and rescue you need to take your dog with you every time you set out to do these activities. This creates some quality bonding time with your golden retriever which will strengthen your bond.

You can add some more to this list. After all you ‘re the one who knows your pet more than anyone else or you can also seek the help of professional dog trainers.
