Training any ordinary dog is no easy task. It takes patience and motivation in doing so but the result is so rewarding and give you a high morale spirit which makes you proud of yourself of being a dog owner.
like german shepherds specifically is harder yet fun and encouraging. When i was a kid, i could still remember my family having different kinds of dogs their breeds i couldn't recognize anymore. My father used to collect them for himself and for other people to feel scared in coming in to our house unnoticeably. I was not sure if my father had any hidden business and he didn't want his creditors to run after him but one thing was for sure, he was a policeman whom i looked up with.
I had no any idea why his dogs became less in number and only one left. Chickee was the only survivor which according to my mom they had her since she concieved me. This beautiful and adorable bitch was very obedient, submissive and well-behaved (perhaps due to
given). Chickee was a german shepherd. My father taught me at my young age on how to deal with her when she was still alive. Whenever other people came to our home for the first time you must had them introduced to her before they passed the entrance. And after the SOP was done, you could already leave them unattented without her running after them (intelligent dog indeed).
Actually, as far as my memory is concerned, german shepherds don't bark when they want to attack. When attacking their prey they just come around you especially at your back surprisingly biting your butt and leave you scathed. Well as i grew up i fully understand how they live their lives. They are naturally perspicacious though irrational animals. They are very apt to training and you get what you give them. That was what we got from Chickee. Since she was the apple of our eyes, all the love, caress and good treatment she needed we gave her which in return she also became over protective with us.
Now, let us talk about the trainings we had with our lost chickee babe. First, we had the natural or the tradional
which we knew would work better for her. It simply took constant activities for her to put in mind. We just made several body gestures and had her followed them everyday. Every after activity, we rewarded her something that would encourage her more to obey. Lastly, we had this clicker thing that would make her respond to our command. For example, we commanded her to pick such a thing up and gave it to us.
When she had done it successfully then a click would sound which eventually warned her to get her reward, may it be her favorite food she was really craving for or something else that would motivate her to perform very well. In the end, things run smoothly and no sweat in dealing with such intelligent carnivores anymore.
