Pick The Right Dog Name

Tags: , , ,

2008-11-18Like everything else in the world, each one should have a name—including dogs. Although they are all generally known as Canis domesticus in the scientific world, and just plain dog for the English language, it would be ridiculous if we don’t give each of them a proper title. Finding the proper noun for man’s best friend would be a bit difficult especially if you want to give it the very best dog name.

One has to consider various things because naming a pet is not that easy. Well, some would say that what you call it doesn’t matter because it can’t tell you how much it likes or hates what it is called. But for owners who loves their pets that much the name says something not only for the pets themselves but for the owners as well.

So what or how do you choose the proper dog name for your pet? The following are just tips or suggestions; you can choose your own method. First, choose the one that best describes your pet. Some people say that the name is the title of your life or your story.

It should be the same for dogs. The description can be physical or the character. For example, if your pet is brown you can call it Brownie or Mocha or, if it is white call it Whitey or Snow. Another example, if your pet is big you can call it Big Guy or if your pet is small you can call it Cutie.

Or the other way around for irony effect or your dog’s character is really great even if it is small in size. Pick those dog names that are generally accepted by others and not those causing insult. You might find an argument with others or even pick a fight if you call your dog’s name and other people near you might think that you are calling or insulting them.

Next tip, if you want it to be original choose those that are unusual but easy to remember. Those dog names that are not commonly used. Or you can try mixing your name with your special someone’s name to be different. For example, if you are called Julian and your girlfriend is Mary you can call your pet Marian, Jury, or Jam.

Just be sure that it is pleasant to the ears and no negative effects to others. If you want to it to be a family or friend activity you can gather together and each of you will give a suggestion and then all of you will pick the best one.

You can also mix your names for just like the one suggested earlier. This activity would become memorable to everyone and process won’t be that hard but rather fun. Just remember that it should be short because dogs are responsive to that and they really don’t respond to what they are called but to the sound of it.

Picking a name for your dog can be easy if you want it to be easy or it can also be tricky if you want it be something unique. Whatever dog name you can come up with, stick to it and wait until your dog responds to it.
