Caring for your pet is a big task regardless of their size. The amount of care is basically the same. Although small dogs take lesser time to bathe than big dogs, all the other caring activities do not have much difference. When you adopted another part of the family your home changes. Dog care means that you have to provide all of your pets basic needs such as food, clothes if you like and shelter plus the proper attention. For its food you have to make sure of what you feed your pet. You have the choice between commercial or organic dog foods. You have lots of choices for commercial dog foods just make sure you check its ingredients and nutritional content. Some have harmful substances which can be dangerous to your pet’s health. Since the need for an organic dog food is hitting the market you also have many choices to choose from. And that would be a better option. However you can personalize your pet’s food by making them yourself. That way you are sure of your pet’s growth and well-being. Aside from food, dog care also includes giving your pup a bath to keep it clean. However, do not wash it everyday because it may lead to dog skin problems such as dryness and itchiness.
You can give it a bath twice week or when it is dirty. Consider also the shampoo that you are using. Be sure that it is specially made for pets. Dogs have a different skin type so choosing a human shampoo might not be a good choice. In giving your pup a bath use warm water. Dogs don’t like water and they typically fight back when you give them a bath so have another family member to assist you. Wrap your pup in a dry towel after the bath. They normally shake and yelp so in addition to the towel you can use a blower to help its fur dry faster. If your pet has long hair, clip it especially when it covers their eyes. Their hairs cause itchiness in the eye area if they are not clipped properly. Groom your dog using your own style. They even look cuter if they are well-groomed. Another dog care activity is making sure that your pet gets proper exercise. Active dogs need more of that than the inactive ones. You can jog with them early in the morning or walk them during afternoons. If you have a wide lawn, allow them to play and teach them tricks at the same time. However if you do not have a wide space you can walk them in your neighborhood or in a park. You can even ask another family member or hire someone to do it for you if you are really busy. Getting their regular check up is also a part of the dog care activity. It is important to have them examined by a vet so if ever they are suffering from certain diseases it will be detected earlier. Another extension of the dog care activity is obedience training by yourself or by a professional trainer. And if ever you are going out of town you have the option to bring your pet if allowed or find the best dog day care for them. Caring for pets is a must for every owner and it should be taken seriously because dogs are not toys they are living creatures that needs to be taken care of just like humans.
