 Do you easily get annoyed when your dog barks endlessly? Or you tend to ignore the first ten barks but you can’t tolerate the hundred others more? Take note that dog barking is natural to them. Among the many other things your pet can do barking can be considered both a good and bad attitude.
For one thing, its barking might be its way to get your attention or it wants to say something to you. Sometimes, you just can’t ignore their noisy racket especially when it is in the middle of the night and your neighbors are irritated too. However, there are times when dog barking can’t be really tolerated especially when you think that it only barks at the air around it.
It barks for nonsense things that for you is just a distraction. But beware! Try to understand what your pet wants even if it is in the crack of dawn. You might be very sorry later if you just ignore the warnings it gives you because oftentimes they can sense if danger is coming.
But how do you know that your pet is really barking at something? And how do you stop it from barking at futile things? First, try to find the real cause its endless barking. Find out the things that make your dog bark? Is it your neighbor’s cat or just a squirrel up on a tree? Or maybe it is a stranger lurking around your home.
Once you’ve figured it out try to separate the nonsense dog barking from the real thing. Remember that it barks for various reasons such as fear of other people or of other animals, its feeling of being small in size (for small dogs) as compared to other breeds and its fright of being left alone.
Next train your pet to stop its noisy racket. This is not easy as it seems because this includes lots of hard work. You can train your pet all by yourself or you can seek aid from professional dog trainers. When you are walking your dog and it suddenly barks order it to stop and calm it down.
You can also opt to ask help from your friends if your pet is afraid of strangers. Ask them to pass by your home a number of times or bring another dog or animal if your pet is afraid of other animals. Just make sure that you have safety precautions for this training because your dog might go out of hand and create injuries to itself and to other people.
Making a diversion of its attention can really help. You can make use of noisy toys such as filling a small empty can with pebbles or coins and drop it to create a noisy clatter. Repeat this method over and over again until your pet realizes that it is just nothing to bark at or to be afraid of.
Another one is to spray water at your pet’s face every time it barks so that its attention will be diverted to the source of water rather to what it focuses upon. If your pet is really that noisy after all the effort you’ve done with you can try keeping them in one room where only those people they are not afraid of can mingle with them.
You can also try allowing a stranger to be with them but the stranger should not be allowed to move or say anything for about 15 minutes. This is effective because the dogs will not be taken by surprise. Always remember to give a little patience to stop dog barking.
The rewards of a good training would include a very pleasant and peaceful sleep night or day.
