Dog Collar Vs. Dog Harness

Tags: , , ,

Everybody knows the importance of having a and dog collar kept on a pet when outside, especially those crowded areas with people walking around or cars passing by. The two products when combined can save your pets life, take for example: you and your pooch are walking along the road, when suddenly a car spins out of control towards you. You jump out of the way, and give a strong tug on your pet, and the car misses both of you by inches. Thanks to the collar and leash, you and your pet are alive – but did you know that the force you used to save its life, is strong enough to cause serious damage and even break its neck? Of course you do, common sense will tell you that.

For small canine, a tug of lesser force can actually cause some damage to it; that's the major disadvantage of the dog collar. So what would be a better alternative for it? The would my friend: I'm sure that all reading this article are familiar with how it works and what it looks like. For those who don't, listen closely: the harness looks like a some straps put together which resemble a vest. Its made to go around the torso of your pet, and designed to put the pressure (while tugging at it with a leash) on its shoulders, which is a lot more comfortable on the lucky house pet that has one.

It wouldn't be experiencing pain, the pain it'd feel if you were dragging it along the floor with a dog collar, or the pain it'd feel if it were “taking the lead” while the two of you were walking. You may be thinking, “what about the name tag? I don't want my pet to get caught and put in the dog pound” - if you are thinking this, you might wanna rethink it. That won't be a problem because you could easily attach the name tag to the harness of course! Another good thing about the harness is that it's more durable than the dog collar.

They can actually last for several months and even years, depending on the quality of the material it was manufactured with. It also eliminates that “choking sound” your pooch makes while its exerting pressure on the collar – the harness doesn't come into contact with the throat. With these facts alone, we can conclude that the latter is the better of the two. Now you might be thinking “dog collars still look better because of the variety of designs it comes with, like the spikes my pooch has on its collar”. Yes, they can come in many designs, but so does the harness.

At present there are tons of cool decorations or modifications being made to it, there's even one with spikes. It won't be looking as if it were paralyzed or resembling robocop, but it'd look just as good or even better than it were if it had a collar on. You don't have to give a damn about what I think about how it looks, but you should be caring for – if there's something you can do to make it feel better or more comfortable, then do it.
