Homemade Dog Food Is The Better Choice

Tags: , , ,

2008-11-28Due to the many risks associated with commercial dog food, more and more owners are switching to natural dog foods. Given that commercial dog foods cannot be fully trusted, how would you be assured that you are feeding your pet right? Commercial dog foods have some good stuff too and they are base on years of research.

But why is it that many pets still suffer from them? Maybe because they are not careful regarding the substances or ingredients they used or maybe they just want to make money from the owner’s pockets by showing bogus statements about their products. Well in fact they are lying! How can they explain animal poisoning and diseases acquired from using their products? It is high time that dog owners must take the cards back.

Pets deserve proper nourishment and should not just be used as a way for heartless businesses to earn more money. What needs to be done is finding natural dog food or making homemade dog food by yourself. First you have to consult with your pet’s veterinarian to learn which types of food you will give your pet.

Your pet’s age must be considered here because each has different nutritional requirements. A young pup needs food rich in protein where as a senior dog needs food that are high in calcium to support their bones. By choosing homemade you can eliminate the threats of food poisoning and diseases caused by commercial dog food which damages the kidney, stomach, and liver of your pets.

Diarrhea and other fatal diseases can be eliminated, too. If you are the one making the food for your pet you will know which ingredients causes it allergies. When you are feeding it something that’s commercially made you will have a hard time which one causes allergies due to the many various ingredients it contains.

Another advantage of making their food is your pet will have variety with regards to what it eats. You can even try experimenting different combinations which your pet might like. This alternative is also cheaper because you get to choose which ingredients to use and you are not subjected to the prices of those commercially made.

On the other hand, this might cost a lot of your time. If you are just living alone with your pet as the only companion this is not a problem. However if you are the busy type your might want to ask help from other members of the family or hire someone to make the meals for them.

But if you would be really having a hard time making the meals you can try some natural dog foods available in the market. Switching to natural or homemade includes a lot of trade offs. But if you look at it in the perspective of a concerned and loving owner no cost can ever replace your pets health conditions whether it is your time or money.

If you consider this as an investment then you are not dumping your money in a drainage ditch because in the long run you get to save bills because your pet is healthy.
