Urinary Tract Infection In Your Dog

Who said that Urinary Tract Innfection is a disease that can happen only to humans? My friend did, and I thought that he was pretty dumb at the time. But I don't blame him for his ignorance, there are many others like him that are unaware of the disorder occurring in animals as well – why should we care about this? Well it can happen to your dog too; as a matter of fact, a statistical report conducted by a team of statisticians (and whoever was on the team) clearly stated that one out of seven animals will develop Urinary Tract Infection at least once in their lifetime.

To make things worse, our beloved doggies are said to be more prone to the “dog disease”. To be honest, it has never happened to my pet, but that doesn't mean that it won't. There's always that possibility that it will occur to my pooch (yours as well), so as responsible pet owners, we best look out for the symptoms of the ailment.

So what are the signs that your pet would show if it's indeed a victim of the disease? Are you even interested in knowing them? If you are, listen closely: during the early stages, you'll notice that it'll be having difficulty with “letting the river flow” or taking a piss.

The “stream” of urine would appear to be interrupted from time to time. The amounts being expelled will be lesser than normal, so watch out for that. Do you know the color of your pooch's pee? The reason I'm asking you such an idiotic question is there'll be a change in its usual color.

Piss may come in a variety of colors, but it doesn't come in red – having that color clearly points out that something isn't right, which is also to be taken as one of the possible symptoms of Urinary Tract Infection – it's red because the bacteria caused some damage from within, so bad that it starts to bleed.

Do you know what your dog's pee smells like? The reason behind that moronic question is the change in the odor of its urine is also to be taken as a possible symptom. If you thought it smelt bad enough naturally, wait till you smell it when your pet has Urinary Tract Infection – it'll be a lot worse.

Has your pooch been housebroken? If yes, you may be seeing it taking peeing everywhere, which may or may not include the place you've trained it to pee. It's not to be taken as a sign of rebellion, but as a symptom of the canine disease. As I've stated earlier, it'll be having difficulty in urination, but it'll be doing so more frequently.

If your pet has any, many, or all of the symptoms stated above, then be sure to have it see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Any delays will give a chance for the bacteria to spread, worsening its condition, and having heavier impacts on dog health. Diagnosis will be important for determining the exact cause and strain, so that a more effective “dog treatment program” may be given to your pet.

The sooner you get it to the veterinarian, the better. Remember to follow the program plan as prescribed by the vet, any missed doses gives a chance for the infection to become more resilient to the medication.
