Greater Swiss Mountain Dog: My Personal Bodyguard

Tags: , , ,

2008-08-26Today's world is getting a lot more dangerous than it was way back in the early days. There was a time when people could sleep with their doors and windows open, and wouldn't have to worry about any thieves stealing anything, nor killers killing anybody. Nowadays, leaving doors and windows unlocked or worse open acts as an invitation to the bad guys.

Walk down a street at night and there's a good chance (depending where you're from) you'll get mugged by some crazed retard, especially if you're a female. I know there are many people out there that can relate – if you are one of those, and tired of it all, then you should consider getting yourself a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.

With this big dog walking along your side at night, you won't have to worry about all the bad things that could happen to you; rather, you'd be worrying about all the bad things that could happen to the guy that tries to mug you or whatever. It's not an overly aggressive dog breed, but it does have the natural protective instinct, which “tells” it to make sure nothing happens to you.

Just how big is a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog anyway? Well they can weigh anywhere from 130 to 150 pounds, and stand as tall as 29 inches, from foot to shoulder. What makes the pooch intimidating? Well it does have a well-muscled body structure – not only that, but large and solid bones.

It also has a big head; plus a large mouth, which can fit any limb regardless of size inside (if necessary). Getting a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog as your personal bodyguard will also make you “stand out”, here's why: people are familiar with the many kinds of dog breeds used for protection , and to be honest, they've become quite a common sight.

But seeing a pooch like this one isn't that common – you don't see one like this everyday. The best guard dog should be able to “scare” the bad guys away without engaging them. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is highly capable of tearing any grown man to shreds, but it does a better job with intimidation – the best asset of protection.

The overly aggressive breeds do have the tendency to not get along well with the kids. This canine, on the other hand, just loves them! It's a gentle giant, one that's very affectionate towards its master and family members. It's said that farmers used the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog for pulling carts with heavy loads on them – some pet owners actually have this pooch pulls little carts with their children in it; isn't that sweet? Another thing that makes it even more lovable is that it's always thinking of things that it can do to please its family.

Owners of the breed simply find it adorable. With the right canine training methods, teaching it tricks and molding it to become well-behaved shouldn't be much of a problem – the intelligent dog breed has great memory, so it won't be forgetting the commands you've taught it.
