For a man dedicated to the farm life, someone like a farmer or of a profession at least similar to a farmer, his best friend would be a dog. Though this is very applicable for many people of different jobs out there, this profession would have a greater need for a pooch, particularly a sheepdog. One of the popular choices of these types of people would be the Komondor – one of the dog breeds that's really good at keeping the livestock in place as well as protecting them against all kinds of crazy wild animals out there. Now you're probably wondering why it has such a weird name – the reason for that is it originated from Hungary.

The Hungarians bred the Komondor as a sheepdog in response to the numerous attacks of countless coyotes. This of course was viewed as a problem to the type of business they were running, so they needed a dog that was highly capable of fending the beasts off. The task of doing so was hence entrusted to the Komondor, which hardly had any problems in serving as a guard dog. Down in Hungary, the people there also had problems with wolves and even bears, but didn't have to worry much because this pooch had it covered. What made this breed so capable and good at playing hero wasn't just credited to its size, which was a weight of 80 to 135 pounds and a height of 26 to 32 inches, but to its unwavering courage.
It takes a lot of balls to stand up to a wolf, and bigger balls to stand up to a bear – this pet is hard inside out. Another factor that made it great was its agility and stamina. Chasing off predators or running after livestock that were straying too far was a piece of cake for it. Well if you're not a farmer and find these attributes very attractive, you could always get this beautiful dog breed as a house pet. Yes they are beautiful, with gorgeous fur usually coming in the color white. The are big and nice to hug, but don't get too rough with it because it could react negatively, especially if it hasn't been trained properly. If you're looking to own a Komondor, get one while it's still a pup – here you'll able to give it dog behavioral lessons and mold it into a better behaved pooch. One thing that you should know is that it stays calm most of the time, meaning you won't know when it'll suddenly burst and attack another dog. So as you can see socialization will definitely be needed; without it you could end up with several more problems. The Komondor is a very loyal dog and prefers to stick around the family and seek their attention only. This is very true for most belonging to this breed, as well as not getting along with some people outside its family. Proper dog training methods will be needed, of course, as well as perseverance and patience. Play your cards right and you'll end up with a great pet.
