This dog's large, tall and beautiful physique is what makes it a popular choice among dog breeders worldwide. It's built very strong, superior to the other breeds, as many have said. It's great for people into outdoor activities. The Great Dane will tag along and keep up with almost any physical hobby you do, such as jogging and walking. Though hard and tough on the outside, it is a very loving and playful dog in the inside. It's even safe to have around the children. It bonds instantly with its owner and children. The relationship between the two are very strong. It is a very friendly and trusting animal. It feels at ease with humans. Curiosity is normal for this breed. It is gets fascinated by its surroundings and does some exploring from time to time. A Great Dane is long-tempered. Though it is affectionate by nature, it can become a little feisty when pushed over its limit. Nevertheless, it will comeback to being friendly and loving after it does so. Establishing a “reward system” is effective in improving the dogs behavior. Its responses to a reward should be conditioned positively. Meaning a treat should only be given if it does something good deserves the reward. An example of such would be obeying commands, such as fetching the stick when the owner throws it.
Giving a reward after doing such will condition its response to fetch whatever you throw. This method would be great for training. It would help maximize your time and efforts. This breed, like all others, requires discipline. It's essential for all dogs. Having control over it and not the other way around should always be observed. Don't be strict and learn when and when not to reprimand it. It is a very playful dog, understand that somethings are just the way it is. The pet should not be the only one making changes. With a pet in your life, a change in environment is unavoidable - you must adapt as well. Now let us discuss a Great Danes physique. Its span of growth varies according to its gender. Though at average both can reach a height of 3 feet, the females can reach its peak in just a year. While the males fully develop in 3 years. This breed can stay as a puppy for up to 18 months. Noticeable maturation will kick in after puppy hood. As for nutrition, the right stuff should be given according to its age and weight. There mustn't be any sudden changes in a Great Danes diet. This is important in maintaining its weight, which is vital for its health. When it is underweight, it will become susceptible to various sicknesses. Its physical capabilities will be hindered. Having it overweight can also have the same and similar negative effects. Being too heavy makes it prone to heart disease as well. To avoid this, one must supplement it with proper nutrition, food, and exercise to keep it healthy and in tip-top shape.
